As a leading high-speed internet provider in our area, Skywave started in 2002 and connected its first customer early in 2003. We’ve grown to provide telecom services in our broadening tri-county area of Cuming, Burt, & Dodge Counties in Nebraska. In recent years we have expanded to provide cutting edge, fiber-optic internet service to the business and residents of West Point, Beemer, Oakland, Bancroft, Snyder and Dodge. Our 2024 rural fiber expansion will include the Cottonwood Chimes & Hidden Meadows areas, rural area just to the southeast of West Point, and 40+ square mile area in Northeast Cuming County. These services allow residents & businesses data services as fast as available anywhere in the United States. Skywave continues to add staff to support its growing customer base and network footprint. We are locally owned and aim to support and reinvest in our local economy whenever possible.

Our professionally trained staff install and maintain our fiber optic & fixed-wireless internet network. We work together with engineering firms, upstream providers, and service solutions firms to make sure that our network is implemented and maintained correctly. We have service technicians on call 24/7 in the local area to respond to emergency outage situations.
Customer service is our number one goal. We hope to provide a better experience than any other company in the industry and utilize local people to operate our network and support our customers.

We use Calix subscriber and CO (Central Office) equipment. Calix is a leading global provider of broadband communications access systems and software. The Calix Unified Access portfolio allows service providers to connect to their residential and business subscribers and deploy virtually any service over high-speed internet, both fiber- and copper-based network architectures. With more than 1150 customers – whose networks serve over 100 million subscriber lines in total – Calix is at the forefront of enabling the innovative ways that communications service providers deliver advanced broadband services and value to their customers.
Our Security
Security for sensitive data is the responsibility of the user and/or their IT staff. The first line of defense in any business’s or person’s internet security plan should be a router and/or firewall. We can provide a router with our service. The internet by nature is unsecure and allows all traffic; users of the internet must filter this traffic and threats from their own network by use of appliances previously mentioned. Skywave’s internet is as secure as any internet service. If you are concerned about the security of your network, you should contact a professional network security company.

Skywave’s fiber network was turned up in November of 2011. We strive to maintain 99.999% uptime reliability. Scheduled maintenance occurs in off peak hours 1:00-5:00am and customers are notified of such maintenance. Our central office has been engineered to meet or exceed common service provider industry reliability practices. We strive to maintain the highest reliability possible while monitoring our system 24/7 for potential issues.
